How to be Present

Live in the Moment

It has been awhile since my last post because with the holidays, vacations, and all the family fun of the past couple of months, I decided to take my own advice and live in the moment.  I did not worry about what blog needed to be posted nor did I worry about keeping up with The Inner Connection’s Facebook status.  I cherished the activities and traditions of my family around the holidays or when my children are on vacation.  My heart still smiles with the memories of the past month.

Recently, my husband and I went to dinner with college friends who just happen to have children in the same school as our children.  My girlfriend was all smiles when we met and handed me a little gift.  I was surprised because normally I don’t exchange gifts will friends.  I eagerly unwrapped this precocious gift to see it was a plaque, elegant scripted with, “Live in the Moment.”  My friend was exuberant as she proclaimed that the plaque reminded her of me.

How to be Present

I am sharing this plaque with you to remind you to “Live in the Moment.”  You can do this by engaging in the following actions:

  1. Find three things to be grateful for each morning as your stretch and get out of bed.
  2. Enjoy the giggles and laughter of loved ones around you.
  3. Make time to get coffee, go to lunch, or have dinner with friends.
  4. If stressed at work, take 5 deep breaths and remember your top value in life.
  5. Each time you stand from your office chair or couch stretch into the air and yawn.  Pay attention to how you feel and notice your surroundings.

Those that can find joy in the moment, space within a breath, and peace within live happier and healthier lives.  My wish is that you “Live in the Moment” and live a joyous, peaceful, and happy life.
